The Thayer family went on an adventure to Linvilla orchard. In addition to apple cider and donuts, we came home with about 20 lbs of apples! Red delicious, golden delicious, and jonagolds... Yum!
What do you do when life hands you apples... make applesauce!
So, here is my Orchard Applesauce recipe... Hope you enjoy it!
Ingredients
10 apples, peeled, cored, and chopped (I used 3 golden delicious and 7 red delicious)
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
Pinch of salt
1 c of water
Directions
Place all ingredients in a crockpot (6qt). Stir, cook on high for 3-4hrs. As apples soften, mash them to desired consistency. Once cooled, store in air tight containers, and keep in refrigerator.
Bonus: your home will smell amazing!
